When I think back to my childhood, I guess you can say I grew up loving photographs, not necessarily photography. I wasn't the little girl constantly begging to use a camera (until college at least), but rather the one asking to get the photo albums out. My dad passed away when I was young, so most of my memories of him are actually built around boxes of photographs combined with stories from family members.
Fast forward to now, I'm fully in love with photography and being a photographer — I truly can't imagine doing anything else. The best part of my job is having the ability (or superpower, if you will) to freeze time because I know: babies don't keep, change is constant, and memories are the best souvenirs. When I'm behind the lens at your session, I am forever thinking about those old photo albums from my childhood and how special they are to me. I can actually feel the emotion captured in the once-in-a-lifetime moments AND the small, ordinary moments. Feel the happiness. Feel the love. And to me that is priceless. So those are the types of photographs I want to create for you.
When I'm not snuggling brand new babes in the studio, editing, or roaming Sand Beach at sunset with clients, you can find me hanging with my husband, Kyle, working on house projects, playing in the vegetable garden, baking bread, cozying up on the couch watching Netflix, and/or dreaming about traveling somewhere new. Here's a little bit more about me.
This is my husband, Kyle! You may meet him at a session or recognize him as my second shooter on wedding days. He is the person that feels like home to me. Kyle asked me to marry him on the edge of a cliff in Oregon and it was the easiest question I've ever answered. We got married in 2017, served our guests wood fired pizza from a food truck (zero regrets), and had a blast with our favorite people at our favorite place. Our hobbies include: binge-watching Netflix, neighborhood walks, Wednesday pizza nights, and traveling to anywhere together.
Speaking of traveling, it's a passion of mine! I studied abroad in Cork, Ireland in college, and have had the itch to see more of the world ever since I left Europe. There's something so wonderful about learning new cultures, seeing all the natural beauty this planet has to offer, and of course, eating all the foods! Kyle and I aim to take a trip somewhere new on our bucket list once a year. Our recent favorite spots have been Ireland, Aruba, Banff Alberta, New Orleans, and Halifax Nova Scotia. Our next bucket list destination is somewhere in South America!
Even though traveling is a priority, there's no place like Maine. The ocean and the mountains are only a few hours apart, so there's no need to pick one or the other. And if you head to my favorite spot in the state: Acadia National Park on Mount Desert Island, you can experience both at the same time. Seasons are a beautiful thing here, and there are more trees than people, which is great for those of us introverts. Other Maine perks: going to a different country (Canada) can be a day trip, the cities still feel like small towns, and blizzards > tornados.
It's the best, and it's home.
Speaking of home, Kyle and I recently bought our first house! It's a 100+ year old American foursquare, and it's honestly a dream come true. We are both Fixer Upper fans (yes, Waco is on the bucket list... we are coming for you, Chip and Jo!), so being able to have a place to make our own has been a blast. We love planning out future renovations, figuring out our decor style, and we're embracing that the painting will be never-ending. I'm an 80 year old soul at heart and can't wait to have an overflowing vegetable garden in our backyard someday!
I'm all about being cozy + comfy! Yes, major enneagram 9 vibes. So give me all of the cozy blankets, comfy clothes, and houseplants. (Yes, plants DO make your space cozier, trust me!). Indoor jungle = #goals. I'm currently keeping 33 plants and counting alive, so I've got some work to do... but we're well on our way to that indoor jungle life. Please note: if your graphic tee makes me laugh, I'll be sure to awkwardly high five you.
