There are only a few things I love more in life than 1. traveling, and 2. taking pictures of people in love. If I get the opportunity to do both at the same time, I literally jump for joy. So when Leah + Eric asked me last year to document their wedding in Iowa before we did their engagement photos, I was ecstatic! This was my third time in Des Moines, and I love it more and more every time I visit. Leah + Eric’s day was beautiful — sunny with a slight breeze and very warm, which I’m pretty sure is just what they requested. :) These two are so laid back and completely adorable together that it was impossible not to have fun hanging out with them the entire day. Here is their story and some of my favorite moments!

I totally loved Leah + Eric’s wedding day gifts for each other. :)

Eric and the guys got ready at a separate location, so when I got to meet up with them at the church and heard they were up for some basketball (yes this amazing church had a basketball court…) I was all for it!

Before Rio — Leah + Eric’s pup/ring bearer — led the way down the aisle, they decided to do a “non first look” and have a little pre-ceremony moment to themselves without seeing each other.

After the ceremony, the entire wedding party crammed into a party bus to Gray’s Lake where we did group photos and bride and groom photos. Everyone in the wedding party got sunglasses as their gift from Leah + Eric — so fun. The reeeal party started on the way to the reception once photos were done!

Thank you so much Leah + Eric for letting me be the one to capture your big day. It was a total blast, and I am so happy for you both that you found each other!

GAH! Hello again, world o’ blogging. I hope all your new years have started off fabulously and that your resolutions are going well. One of my resolutions? To blog at least 2x a month. Yes, I’m determined!

Sooo, first up, I have been extremely giddy to share this session with you all! Long story short, I met Leah and Eric through my study abroad friend Nancy. When I flew out to Iowa to photograph Cassie and Bobby‘s big day last September, I got to hang out with these two lovebirds for an amazing engagement session. Being from Maine, the big city of Des Moines is exciting and full of new photographing opportunities… like, BUILDINGS! (We don’t have too many tall buildings here. Just trees.) So we played all around downtown. I could not be more excited to fly back out to Iowa this July to get these two in front of my camera again. Seriously, I/we had so. much. flippin’. fun. They were up for all of my random ideas, their outfits rocked, and most of all, they are absolutely adorable together. Look for yourself, here are some of my personal faves. :)

Yes, I was geeking out about the fact that there was a giant #7… since their wedding is in July and all. ;)

Leah and Eric (and yes, Rio the pup, too): I AM COUNTING DOWN THE DAYS UNTIL YOUR WEDDING! Can’t wait!

About a year ago, I flew from Maine to Iowa to visit one of my best friends, and on that trip I had the pleasure of meeting Cassie, Bobby, and their daughter Raegan. Cassie had contacted me about doing a photoshoot prior to my mid-west visit, so we celebrated Raegan’s first birthday photos with a cake smash and some family shots. A few months later, they asked me if I would be interested in photographing their wedding. I was hesitant… as I had never shot a wedding of my own before. I’m pretty sure Cassie had more confidence in me than I had in myself at that point, but I loved their little family so much I couldn’t say no. A year later, after second shooting several weddings, I found myself on a plane, headed to Iowa to shoot my first Danielle Brady Photography wedding. As you can imagine, I was pretty nervous… but as soon as I saw Cassie and Bobby and met their welcoming family, I knew it was going to be a blast. Aaaand I was right. :) Not only was the entire day a blast, but everything came together perfectly. The venue? Ah-mazing. Their details? Gorgeous. The love they have for each other and their daughter? Absolutely radiant. I’m not sure how I got so lucky. Thank you Cassie and Bobby for trusting me to capture your most special day. And for giving me the amazing opportunity to travel to Iowa again! I hope you love this extended preview of your photos and I can’t wait to show you the rest!

This was one of my most favorite parts of the day. Cassie and Bobby actually had two first looks… one with each other, and one with their daughter. Bobby was SO antsy in anticipation of seeing his bride for the first time since the day before :) It was incredibly adorable.

Yesss, the above shot is an instant favorite :) Next up was the party bus! It was pretty crazy. And definitely the way to go if you want to have a mini-party before the reception party begins. Such a fun crew!

I think one of the most memorable moments of the night was Bobby’s impromptu speech… Or shall I say, everyone’s impromptu speech? Yes, every single groomsman gave a small speech or toast. Needless to say, the whole banquet room was laughing hysterically as they kept passing the microphone down the line!

Looked like a fun day, huh? :) So happy I got to be a part of it. Extremely special thanks to my amazing friend and second shooter for the day, Jenn from Jenn Davenport Photography. It’s sometimes impossible to be in two places at once, so she was one of the best teammates I could ask for. I am so grateful she flew out from Washington (state!) to shoot this wedding with me!
